NFL News: Local’s NFL season likely done after major injury

Houston Texans running back D'Onta Foreman waves to the crows as he is carted off the field after injuring his ankle on a 34 yard touchdown run during the fourth quarter against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston. The Texans defeated the Cardinals 31-21.
Texas City native and Houston Texans rookie running back D'Onta Foreman experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows all within a few moments in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals at NRG Stadium. Early in the fourth quarter, Foreman scored his first career NFL touchdown on a 3-yard run to give the Texans a 24-21 lead. On the next Texans' possession, Foreman scored career TD No. 2 on a 34-yard sprint to the end zone, but it proved to be a costly one.
Immediately after crossing the goal line, Foreman went down in a heap with what team officials reported to be an ankle injury. Foreman laid on the field for several minutes surrounded by the team's athletic trainers before being helped onto a cart and taken off the field.
Fans repeatedly chanted, "Foreman," in a show of support for the homegrown athlete and University of Texas alum. He graduated from Texas City High School in 2014. Team officials and Foreman himself were mum on the severity of the injury, but it looked to be extremely serious. "I don't know yet," Foreman, on crutches, said after the game. "I just know it's sore."
NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport reported Foreman is believed to have torn his Achilles tendon on the touchdown run, which would be a season-ending injury for the promising rookie who was just beginning to see his role with the team start to increase. Foreman's name is now likely added to a laundry list of season-ending injuries for Texans players, which includes quarterback Deshaun Watson, defensive end J.J. Watt and linebacker Whitney Mercilus.
