How I Stay Sane And Safe After Ditching My Car For A Motorcycle

Image
"What do you mean, you don't possess a car?" The tall man in the cowhand cap asked, taking a gander at me like I'd recently arrived from Mars or New York. He may have respected my sheer chutzpah, however I question it. Inquiring as to why I don't at present claim a car is an inquiry I get frequently. I have a Triumph Sprint ST and Suzuki GSX-R as my fundamental methods for transportation. In the wake of disposing of my Nissan Sentra I just... didn't supplant it. In any event, not with something on four wheels. What If It's Typhoon Or Sasquatch Weather? I'm a strong advocate for wearing full gear as much as possible. Yes, you might have heard this philosophy called ATGATT (All The Gear All The Time) because, frankly, it's a damn good idea. In typical Dallas summer weather, I wear an Alpinestars T-GP Plus R Air Jacket, which breathes really well, except for the lower part of the arms which are not mesh. My main helmet is a Bell RS-1 with a Transition

He's a person who chose where he went to secondary school since individuals disclosed to him it wouldn't work out. He's a person who wound up at LSU incompletely in light of the fact that individuals growing up let him know he'd wind up some place like Nicholls State or Southeastern. Eating almonds with chocolate may lower cholesterol

Image
Overweight and obese people who eat almonds and chocolate every day may have lower cholesterol than their counterparts who don't consume these foods, a recent experiment suggests. Consumed separately, almonds and chocolate have each been linked to lower blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol and hunger levels in previous studies. For the current study, researchers tested cholesterol levels in 31 overweight and obese people. For four weeks, all of them followed a typical American diet. Every day for another four weeks, they all added almost one-third of a cup of almonds to the typical diet.  In another four-week period, participants added almost one-quarter cup of dark chocolate and about 2.5 tablespoons of cocoa powder per day. Everyone also had a four-week period of adding both the nuts and the dark chocolate with cocoa to their diet. Adding just the almonds reduced participants' levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol by seven per cent, the study found. The resu

The 31-year-old claims he can shovel in thousands of calories while still remaining ripped—but is this actually possible.  Every night, King Schratz (born Dave Schratz) sits down in front of his 62,000 Instagram followers to eat his first, and only, meal of the day. Today, it's 12 bacon-egg-cheese sandwiches and a pile of fries. Earlier in the week, it was cheeseburger sliders, or a bulging-at-the-seams fajita plate.  He lists the nutritional content of each of his meals, adding the hashtag #IIFYM, and he says that each of the feasts runs him about 3,700 calories — yet he has a lean, muscular body, which he proudly displays in his weightlifting videos on Instagram. Schratz has become notorious for limiting himself to exactly one gigantic meal a day. He owns a personal training business called BioFit Solutions in north Jersey, and he claims that he stays in shape by burning off the calories with his intense, 2-hour daily workouts. Tests have since revealed that Curry's ankle is "stable and structurally intact," but he will miss at least two weeks with a sprained right ankle. Curry has a history with his right ankle. After spraining it several times during the 2010-11 season, Curry had surgery in 2011 to repair "instability that existed in the ankle due to recurrent ankle sprains." He then sprained the same ankle multiple times during the 2011-12 season, limiting him to 26 games. He required ankle surgery once again in the offseason, this time to clean out "loose debris and scar tissue." Behind the scenes with Batman's new Mercedes

Image
Everybody's familiar with Batman's favourite form of transport – the Batmobile. It's gone through many iterations during the hero's decades of service, and the most recent versions have been nothing short of incredible. But when Batman removes the mask and becomes reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne (played most recently by Ben Affleck), he still needs stylish transport – and for the most recent Justice League movie, the duty of providing that fell to Mercedes. The film's producers originally procured an E-Class Convertible for Diana Prince – aka Wonderwoman, played by Gal Gadot, but something rather more spectacular was needed for Bruce Wayne. In the film, the car in question is a one-off version of Mercedes' Vision Gran Turismo. "To put Bruce Wayne behind the wheel of an experimental prototype vehicle like the Vision Gran Turismo... it's a great fit," said Charles Roven, Justice League producer. Originally conceived as a 'virtual concept'

NFL notes: Chiefs suspend cornerback Marcus Peters for game against Raiders

Image
Marcus Peters chucked an official's flag into the stands, stalked off the field wearing a smile, then ran back onto it without wearing socks when he realized he hadn't been ejected. Well, he won't have to worry about socks on Sunday. Chiefs coach Andy Reid suspended the volatile young cornerback for their game against Oakland after a series of antics that have humiliated not only Peters but the entire organization. The latest came in last week's loss to the New York Jets, when a late penalty was called and Peters picked up the flag and flung it into the stands . Peters proceeded to leave the field, assuming that he'd been kicked out of the game, and was evidently undressing when he realized his mistake. So Peters ran back onto the sideline without wearing socks, only to watch the Chiefs' last-ditch drive fall short in a 38-31 loss — their sixth in the last seven games. "I've done a lot of thinking and come to the conclusion I'm going to suspend hi

MMA Update: Mark Hunt cleared to return to UFC after gaining medical approval from US brain specialists

Image
New Zealand-born UFC star Mark Hunt has been cleared to fight again by doctors after admitting he had been suffering medical issues in an online article. Hunt was suspended after he admitted in an article on the Players Voice he was slurring his words, struggling to sleep and forgetting things he had done 24 hours earlier.  The confession prompted UFC President Dana White to suspend the heavyweight fighter for "medical reasons" - a decision Hunt protested heavily saying words from the interview had been taken out of context. Hunt accused White of the suspension being payback for his ongoing court case against the UFC over his UFC200 fight with Brock Lesnar in 2016.  Lesnar won the bout by unanimous decision but it was later overhauled to a no contest after Lesnar tested positive for performance enhancing drugs - a result which started Hunt's campaign against PEDs in MMA and the danger it has on disadvantaged fighters in the Octagon. After the medical suspension, Hunt went

NFL News: JuJu Smith-Schuster, George Iloka Reportedly Suspended One Game

Image
Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Cincinnati Bengals' safety George Iloka were both suspended one game after a physical divisional battle Monday night.  The NFL is a physical game, and viewers were reminded of that last night, as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals engaged in a tough divisional matchup. It was filled with unnecessary penalty flags that ruined what was a highly-contested, well-played game between rivals.  The teams combined for 20 penalties, and the Bengals had a team-record 173 penalty yards, courtesy of NJ.com's Darryl Slater. There were two flags that stood out from the rest, though, and those involved Steelers' receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Bengals' safety George Iloka. Smith-Schuster and Iloka were both suspended for one game without pay for violations of safety-related playing rules, according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra. Patra also noted that Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported both players are appea

NBA Trade News: Lakers plan to be very active ahead of deadline

Image
The Los Angeles Lakers plan to an active team ahead of the Feb. 8 NBA Trade Deadline, according to general manager Rob Pelinka. Though the deadline isn't until the first week of February, the NBA trade season kicks off Dec. 15 when players that signed fresh contracts in July become eligible to be shopped around. In a recent interview with the Mason and Ireland Show on ESPN LA Radio, Pelinka spoke openly about the team's intent to be aggressive on the trade market this season.  "December 15, I think you're going to see the trade market open up. I think teams are going to be aggressive. I always say when there's limited cap room, there's more trades. When there's tons of cap room, teams tend to be more free-agent focused. Since there's limited cap room around the league, I think teams are going to be aggressive with trying to reshuffle," said Pelinka, who replaced long time GM Mitch Kupchak earlier this year. It's no secret that the Lakers are tr

A Simple Path to Fitness

Image
On the one hand, fitness is quite simple: eat nutritious food and exercise regularly, On the other hand, taking care of our health takes more time and energy than many of us have to spare. As Mark Twain wrote, "The only way to keep your health, is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not." But there is good news: A growing body of research reveals some surprising insights. Small — very small — amounts of exercise have powerful effects on the body. A study of more than 400,000 adults found that exercising for 15 minutes a day led to three more years of life. Losing one pound a year for four years, and keeping the four pounds off, reduced the risk of high blood pressure by 25 percent.  The Mayo Clinic found that lean, fit people moved more during the day: pacing, parking farther away from the store, standing rather than sitting. As a result, they burned about 350 calories more each day. Standing from a sitting position doub

NBA Suspends Shaun Livingston, Referee Courtney Kirkland

Image
But, upon further review, the league seems to have determined Kirkland was the more guilty party. Kirkland has been removed from the NBA's officiating rotation until December 10 and Livingston will be suspended for tonight's Warriors game against the Pelicans.  Golden State's 28-point win over Miami in the National Basketball Association has been overshadowed by a controversial incident involving Shaun Livingston and a referee. During the incident, the National Basketball Association says Livingston and Kirkland bumped heads. There was 6:24 left in the second quarter at the time. NBA's official release noted Livingston will serve the suspension Monday during Golden State's contest against the New Orleans Pelicans.
