UFC News: Conor McGregor vs Ferguson update, Diaz's boxing license, White on GSP

UFC NEWS - Express Sport brings you the latest headlines from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson has revealed he's hopeful of having his proposed 155lbs title unification bout with Conor McGregor take place in March or April.

"Well ... [with] a wink and a nod it was done!!!" Ferguson said in an Instagram post. "T'was a very minor surgery and now getting ready to unify my belt with McNuggets in the first [quarter] of the year (March - April), as recovery is going great!!! #DefendorVacate." Meanwhile, the Nevada Athletic Commission are willing to hand Nate Diaz a boxing license.

"I don't think he's requested a boxing license, to date," NAC executive director Bob Bennett told Express Sport.

"But from what I know of Nate and who he spars with, I believe he may have been a sparring partner at some point in time with Andre Ward, he and Nick.

"So, if he applied, I would see no reason why wouldn't license him. "That's why he fought Bisping. He didn't want to fight Woodley. He didn't want to fight 'Wonderboy' Thompson.

"He didn't want to fight any of those guys.  He only wanted to fight Michael Bisping. He did, and now he's off again."
