Along with incorporating foods that fight fat into your diet, here are some ways to burn that pooch away while you are out on a run. Switch Up Your Pace Intervals are proven to reduce belly fat and rev up metabolism; instead of running at the same pace for the entire workout, try alternating between periods of pushing your body to the max and periods of recovery. Here's a list of interval workouts for you to try: 45-minute fat-burning treadmill workout 300-calorie-burning walking-jogging workout 30-minute pyramid intervals Swimming interval workout 45-minute walk-run-sprint workout 45-minute elliptical interval workout Go a Little Longer Unfortunately you can't spot treat when it comes to weight loss, which is one reason solely doing crunches won't whittle your waistline. Why Cleveland Cavaliers Fans Shouldn't Panic After Slow Start

Image
Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman expected the Cavs to encounter early-season issues. "There's going to be some adversity," Altman told USA TODAY Sports just before the Cavs' 2017-18 season began. "There's going to be bumps in the road to start as we find this continuity. You bring in eight new faces, it's going to be hard. But we have veterans who are in a really good place mentally. They know how to play." Perhaps it will take Cleveland longer than Altman or Cavs coach Tyronn Lue anticipated. At 3-4, the Cavs have one of the worst defenses in the league, a defense that has allowed at least 110 points in five of seven games. The Cavs gave up 114 in a loss to Orlando, 112 in a loss to Brooklyn, 123 in a loss to New Orleans and 114 in a loss to New York — all teams they were expected to beat. Is it time to make bold, sweeping proclamations about what this means long term for Cleveland? Of course not. The season is too long, and Cavs supe

14 Easy Ways to Jump-Start Your Metabolism

These simple tweaks to your daily routine will boost your weight loss in no time! Walk for the same amount of time at the same intensity day in and day out and your body will get as bored with your workout as you do. Throw in some variety with interval training, which involves changing the intensity of your workout throughout your exercise session. Every 5 minutes of your walk, jog for 1 minute.  Every 5 minutes of your bike ride, shift into a higher gear and pedal hard for a minute. If you swim, speed up every other length. You'll burn more calories in the same amount of time. Here's how high-intensity interval training kicks your cardio routine up a notch. 1. Use interval training to rev up your workout 2. Fidget 3. Keep a small squeeze ball with you and grip and squeeze it frequently during the day 4. Don't starve yourself 5. Put five rubber bands around your wrist every morning 6. Denver Nuggets Briefs: Nikola Jokic, Kristaps Porzingis “future Of NBA”

Image
The Nuggets' game at the New York Knicks doubled as the latest matchup between Nikola Jokic and Kristaps Porzingis, two of the NBA's best young big men. This round went to Porzingis, who dropped 38 points and seven rebounds to reach 30 points in five of the Knicks' six games this season. Jokic scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds in his return to Madison Square Garden, where he scored 40 points in a breakout effort last season. "(They are) the future of the NBA," Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. Malone got an even closer look at Porzingis while coaching at the NBA Africa game over the summer. Malone marveled at Porzingis' 7-foot-3 frame and long arms, which help make him a shot-blocking threat and an inside-outside scorer. "I mean, OK, Jokic is a big guy," Malone said. "But Porzingis? He's huge." Jokic, though, is a dynamic facilitator, with the Nuggets running much of their offense through their center. Arthur makes debut. Den

Colby Covington Says He Was ‘on Lockdown’ In Brazil By Security After Controversial Comments

Image
Colby Covington made it out of Brazil and back to his home in Oregon. But not without extra precautions, the UFC welterweight told Ariel Helwani on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour.  Covington said he was escorted by security from the arena after his unanimous decision win over Demian Maia in the co-main event of UFC Sao Paulo early Sunday morning. Then he was locked down in his hotel room until it came time for him to fly home late that night. The extra precautions were because of Covington's controversial comments about the home crowd after his victory over Maia. Covington said Brazil was a "dump" and called the fans in attendance "filthy animals." On his way from the Octagon to backstage, Covington had 10 security guards covering him up as the irate crowd threw things at him. "It was crazy, man," Covington said. "The experience, it was awesome. You know, I love that. I knew I was going into hostile territory. I knew they were gonna be rea

NFL News: Patriots Trade Jimmy Garoppolo To 49ers For Draft Pick

Image
After more than a year of trade rumors involving Jimmy Garoppolo, the Patriots are finally dealing the fourth-year quarterback.  The Patriots are trading Garoppolo to the 49ers in exchange for a second-round draft pick in a move first reported by ESPN. The two teams reportedly began trade talks Monday morning and agreed to the deal Monday night.  Garoppolo, who started a pair of games in 2016 while Tom Brady was serving a four-game suspension, goes from the defending Super Bowl champions who are 6-2 this season to a winless 49ers team that hasn't had a winning season since 2013. The 49ers were expected to go after Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins next year to reunite him with 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, who was Washington's offensive coordinator for Cousins' first two NFL seasons. The 49ers play host to the Cardinals and Giants over the next two Sundays before entering their bye week. Garoppolo is not expected to play Sunday, but should be fully integrated into the system

NBA Wrap: Warriors, Cavaliers Continue Early-season Struggles

Image
The bumpy early starts to the season for the 2017 NBA finalists continued Sunday night, as the Warriors and Cavaliers both suffered home losses.  Actually, "bumpy" is a kind characterization of the Cavaliers' season start. Yes, it's too soon to panic and the Cavaliers are not at full strength, but a 19-point loss at home to the Knicks, which dropped their record to 3-4, piles on the cause for concern in Cleveland. The Warriors' 115-107 loss to the Pistons, meanwhile, makes them 4-3 on the season, but their situation seems far less dire than their counterparts in the East.  Trailing 92-75 coming into the fourth quarter, the Cavaliers went on a 13-2 run that tantalized Clevelanders into thinking their team was about to put an end to its two-game losing streak. But the Knicks retook control and widened their lead to a 114-95 count by the time the buzzer sounded. New York got 34 points from Tim Hardaway Jr. and 32 from Kristaps Porzingis, and solid performances from E

Lifetime Collection Of Classic Cars Lost In Fire In Langley

Image
Fire raced through a large garage in Langley, B.C., Wednesday, destroying a multimillion-dollar collection of vintage cars, some of which are shown in a recent handout photo. Garry Cassidy spent decades collecting and only in the last year put his collection of 40 vehicles in the new garage. THE CANADIAN PRESS/HO-Alyn Edwards MANDATORY CREDIT  LANGLEY — A collection of classic vehicles worth millions of dollars was destroyed Wednesday when fire raced through a building in Langley. Alyn Edwards, a columnist who writes about classic cars and a good friend of the owners, Garry and Darlene Cassidy, said they are devastated by the loss.  The couple were on their way home from the United States after learning of the fire, he said.  Edwards said he spoke with Garry Cassidy on the phone. The couple had been in Las Vegas at a classic car auction. "He's in tears, these cars are so important to him and he said that insurance can pay out what they will on these cars, but they are absolu

Examining Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217

Image
In 2013, Georges St-Pierre left the UFC on a decline. He passed 30, suffered knee injuries, lost a bit of speed, and started getting hit more frequently. The last fighting memory of St-Pierre, one of the three greatest fighters in UFC history, is of him winning a fight he should have lost. Whether or not he was correct in his diagnosis of mental burnout as the root cause of his decline, St-Pierre was astute in his decision to walk away. Every fighter dreams of walking away on top; every champion talks about retiring with a belt strapped around their waist. St-Pierre was the only one to actually follow through with it on his own accord. Exactly why St-Pierre is returning four years on in a weight class 15-pounds above the division he once dominated is open to interpretation. He had declined to move up while in his prime to fight Anderson Silva in the ultimate clash of UFC superpowers. The most commonly held belief is that St-Pierre sees middleweight champion Michael Bisping as beatabl

Steelers Are First Nfl Team In Modern Era To Win 450 Games

Image
Pittsburgh's 20-15 victory over the Lions is the Steelers' 450th regular season win since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Ben Roethlisberger, Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, James Harrison and the rest of the Steelers just made history. With a 20-15 victory over the Lions on Sunday night, Pittsburgh has become the first NFL franchise to win 450 regular season games in the modern era, which began following the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.  Pittsburgh also has the modern day record for playoff wins, as each of Pittsburgh's 36 postseason victories have come since the 1972 season, when Franco Harris secured the franchise's first playoff victory by virtue of his "Immaculate Reception" against the Raiders.  Fittingly, the Steelers won their 450th regular season game with defense, as Pittsburgh's new version of the Steel Curtain held the Lions to 0-for-5 in the red zone in terms of scoring touchdowns. "I love this defense," Ben Roethlisberger told NBC after S

The 'Art Of Mopar' Delivers Exactly What It Promises

Image
I tend to avoid keeping too many car-art-type books on my shelf—if a book is going to be full of pictures, I much rather they be reference photos than studio shots or closeups of badges. But there are always exceptions. One of those exceptions is Tom Glatch's new The Art of Mopar: Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth Muscle Cars, with photography by Tom Loeser, which delivers exactly what the title promises, 'art' and 'Mopars.' Being a classic Chrysler fanatic with a keen interest in styling and design, I'm saving a spot for it on my wall specifically because it delivers on that promise. The subject cars hail from the famous anonymous Brothers Collection, and are generally factory-appearing, gorgeously optioned, and detailed to a spotless finish. They make the perfect canvas for Loeser, and I use "canvas" deliberately, both because his photos' awesomeness is derived in large part from the "light painting" technique he has perfected and actuall

Midnight Mania! Older, Wiser Machida Says Layoff Has Given Him Perspective: “life Is A Fight”

Image
Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight. Lyoto Machida has returned from the wilderness with wisdom. He found himself facing an 18-month suspension for being honest with USADA about his use of what he said he didn't know was a banned substance. In his time away from the sport, he has stopped comparing himself to others, and focused on himself instead: "What can I do to improve? What can I do to enjoy life?"  Most of the things I've been learning throughout this year and these months that I've been out was outside the octagon," Machida told MMAjunkie today. "Our life is a fight. You have to face so many problems in your life. When something happens in your life, sometimes you don't know how to act or what to do. That happened with me as soon as the episode happened about the doping. "At the beginning, I was very stressed. I was very emotionally affected. Then, a couple months later, I could move (past) eve

NFL Notebook: Steelers Bench Disgruntled Bryant

Image
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant (10) is tackled by Cincinnati Bengals outside linebacker Vontaze Burfict (55) in the first half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, in Cincinnati. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin took a hard line with disgruntled receiver Martavis Bryant, telling him he will not play Sunday, in Detroit, as punishment for his social media use. Bryant, the Steelers' No. 2 starting receiver after Antonio Brown, worked exclusively with the scout team Wednesday, portraying Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones for the Steelers' first-team offense.  "I'm not tripping," he said. "It is what it is." He said he has no regrets about anything other than it has caused distractions for the team, and people interpreting his comments as criticism of rookie teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster. Bryant complained in a post on Instagram Sunday night that "all they need to do is give me what I want and y'all can have juju and who ever

Yup, we're moving into the everyone's-got-a-cold time of year. Experts are forecasting an especially bad flu season, which means sick days may be on the horizon. So consider stocking up on these natural remedies… 1. Indie Lee's Homemade Bad Cold Balm DIYing your balm instead of relying on a store-bought version can help you avoid a major pesky ingredient: petroleum. Coconut Oil Among coconut oil's many health perks are its antiviral properties. The fatty substance is heat-stable (meaning it'll retain its health side effects even when heated) and can ease everything from a bad cough to a sore throat. 3. Ec

Stern Calls For NBA Changes Of Marijuana Rules

Image
NEW YORK — Former NBA Commissioner David Stern believes medicinal marijuana use should be allowed, but the league says it won't allow players to use it for recreational use.  Stern was interviewed by ex-NBA player Al Harrington for the website Uninterrupted's documentary "Concept of Cannabis." Stern said he thought there was "universal agreement that marijuana for medical purposes should be completely legal." Adam Silver, who replaced Stern as commissioner in 2014, has said he is interested in studying more about the safety of medicinal marijuana. But Stern, who spent 30 years as commissioner, seemed ready to go a step further in his interview.  "I think we have to change the Collective Bargaining Agreement and let you do what is legal in your state," he said. "If marijuana is now in the process of being legalized, I think you should be allowed to do what's legal in your state." Marijuana is listed as a prohibited substance on the lea

Shocker: HBO Legend Claims Mayweather 'threw Rounds' In Mcgregor 'scam Set-up' For Rematch

Image
Hall of Fame commentator Jim Lampley, who works for Showtime rivals HBO, claims the recent Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor SHO PPV fight was pre-arranged in order to secure a rematch.  Lampley is convinced Mayweather allowed McGregor to win the first three rounds in a bid to make sure he could make more money with a second outing.  Mayweather pocketed a massive nine-figure sum when stopping McGregor on August 26, before riding off into the sunset with a 50-0 record. Rumours 'Money' may be on his way back have already begun in earnest and Lampley believes Mayweather v McGregor II is firmly on the cards.  "Why should he retire? He created a marvelous scam with this whole thing," Lampley told TMZ.  "He allowed Conor to quote 'win' 3 rounds so that the whole global MMA wish community could have something to latch on to.  "I think there's a decent chance there's enough suckers out there Floyd could maybe make another $150 million, why not? Honda Sports Ev Shows Intent For Future Electric Performance Car

Image
Brand's recent rate of turnaround suggests hot EV could make market by 2020. Honda has taken the wraps off its Sports EV concept at the Tokyo motor show, a striking electric sports car with clear production intent.  The compact sports car concept is the second model to be previewed on Honda's new dedicated electric car platform, after the Urban EV city car from the recent Frankfurt motor show.  Honda is keen to create a family of electric cars off the new architecture to achieve economies of scale. The Urban EV will make production in 2019 as the first model in the new family. Honda has increased its amount of sporty offerings in recent years, and creating a car such as this would be a clear signal that it will continue to do so in the era of electrification. The brand already has an electrified supercar, of course – the NSX – so it is no stranger to the technology. No other car maker offers a model anything like the Sports EV at present, and if Honda can turn around the conc

Eagles Ascend To No. 1 In Nfl.com Power Rankings

Image
The high marks are starting to pile up for the 2017 Eagles, a team that many thought had merely an outside chance of making the playoffs. Fast forward to Week 8, and the Eagles are sitting on top of the NFL with a league-best 6-1 record.  NFL.com is the latest media outlet to give accolades to the Eagles. They gave Philadelphia the top spot in their Week 8 NFL power rankings. Here is the reasoning by NFL.com league analyst Elliott Harrison: There's a new No. 1, and it's not a familiar one. When was the last time the Eagles were the best team in pro football?  Maybe in the first two months of the 2004 campaign, when Andy Reid's squad started the season 7-0 on the way to the franchise's second-ever Super Bowl berth.  Harrison failed to mention the defense, which kept them in Monday's game against the Redskins after an abysmal start by the offense. Like many others who have watched the Eagles, Harrison was specifically pleased with the play of the quarterback. The 20

Software To Classify People For Ayurveda Treatment

Image
It will help identify a person's constitution type, or "Prakriti". Ayurveda may have got its most futuristic upgrade yet. A multidisciplinary team of scientists, including statisticians, genomics experts, Ayurveda researchers and computer scientists, have developed a software — using Big Data and machine learning approaches — that can efficiently classify people into the three dominant types of constitutions that underlie the Ayurvedic treatment philosophy. Unlike Western medicine that grades patients on the severity of their disease, Ayurveda classifies even the healthy. Every person, in this view, falls into seven broad constitution types, or "Prakriti," that is determined at the time of birth and remains invariant throughout one's life. Vata (V), Pitta (P) and Kapha (K) are the most important divisions, decided on the basis of wide variety of features such as anatomy, appetite, skin-type, allergies, susceptibility of disease. The other four are permutatio

Tecia Torres vs. Michelle Waterson Set For UFC 218

Tecia Torres will face Michelle Waterson in a strawweight bout at UFC 218. UFC officials announced the fight on Tuesday (per MMAjunkie). The fight is something that Torres has been calling for since August, and one Waterson told ESPN that she's game for. "Tecia has been calling me out since her last fight," Waterson said. "I'm just trying to give her what she wants. It'll be a great fight." UFC 218 takes place on December 2nd from Detroit, Michigan. The main card airs on PPV after prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

More and More, NFL Becoming Women’s Game

Image
Wearing all of her Dallas Cowboys swag, Tamy Ben walked around AT&T Stadium before the season opener against the New York Giants last month. Like most in North Texas, she couldn't wait to get in the stadium and get the 2017 NFL season underway.  "I've been a Cowboys fan my entire life, ever since I was a little girl," said Ben, a Fort Worth, Texas resident. "I am a true Cowboys fan." Ben was one of thousands of female fans attending the Cowboys-Giants game that day, and is one of millions who enjoy the game on a weekly basis.  Women fans make up almost half of the NFL fan base with more than 45 percent women identifying themselves as fans. Cowboys executive vice president Charlotte Jones Anderson said women account for more than 47 percent of their fan base. The numbers certainly are eye-opening, but don't come as a surprise to many.  "We rule the world," Ben said, smiling. "Ladies rule the world." NFL executives wouldn't di

The coupe is based on the 'Scalable Platform Architecture' (SPA) platform that underpins Volvo's XC60, XC90, S90 and V90 models. However, about 50 per cent of the SPA platform underpinning the hybrid is bespoke, having been created by Polestar's engineers with a focus on dynamic driving characteristics. It measures in at 4500mm long, some 6

Lebron James Wants To Play In The Nba Long Enough To Face Against His Son Lebron Jnr

Image
LEBRON James isn't sure how long he will play as his 15th NBA season begins, but the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar would love to stay long enough to foul his now-teenage son. The 32-year-old forward's quest for his eighth consecutive NBA Finals and ninth overall appearance began Tuesday with the Cavs hosting the Boston Celtics just hours after a profile on James was posted on the GQ magazine website. In the story, James said he didn't want to play in the NBA when he was washed up, but hoped to be around long enough to play against his 13-year-old son, LeBron Jnr, who has followed his dad into basketball. "I know I won't be able to play at this level forever, but to be washed (up) and play," James said. "I don't know if I could play washed, but I damn sure would love to stick around if my oldest son can have an opportunity to play against me. That would be the icing on the cake right there." But James said he planned to hammer his son with physica
